Consumer

Consumers are encouraged to reach out to the Law Offices of Lawrence Katz at (516) 374-2118 with any issues regarding the conduct of businesses that they feel is unfair or illegal. We will be happy to review all of your documents and help you determine if your rights have been violated under federal, state or local laws.

FIGHTING BACK AGAINST CREDIT COLLECTION

We are experienced in fighting against Debt Collectors. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is a Federal Statute that regulates debt collectors. When debt collectors violate the statute we will sue them. The law allows us to collect our fees from the debt collectors. We do not charge any legal fees to our clients on these cases. If you are being harassed by a debt collector call us.

Making sure your credit report is accurate

Pursuant to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, credit reporting agencies must accurately report all information on your credit report. When they don’t we take them to court. The law provides for counsel fees to be awarded to the consumer’s attorney if successful. All of our FCRA cases are done on a contingency basis.

ELECTRONIC FUNDS TRANSFER ACT

The Electronic Funds Transfer Act regulates bank transaction. More and more banks are refusing to credit back consumer accounts where there has been a fraudulent withdrawal. In what has become an all too typical instance the bank will claim there can be no fraud because the thief used the ATM pin. Do not be intimidated. Always make sure to demand a written explanation for a denial to credit an account based upon fraud. We will sue the bank and make them return your money.

ANNOYING CALLS AND FAXES

Whether you are receiving junk faxes autodialed or recorded calls (telemarketing robocalls) that you have not consented to receive or spam text messages, your rights under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act may have been violated.

You do not have to put up with any type of illegal conduct or abuse. Let us advise you of your options.
